SINGER LUCINDA MOORE’S SECOND SOLO CD BLESSED, BROKEN & GIVEN DEBUTS AT #13 ON BILLBOARD TOP GOSPEL ALBUMS CHART

Filed under: Celebrity — Kitina @ 3:23 am

Dynamic Gospel Vocalist Triumphs Over Her Past Problems and Pains To Deliver Her Highest Charting CD To Date

Lucinda Moore, who has done dynamic vocal cameos on recordings with Hezekiah Walker and Tramaine Hawkins, is celebrating a milestone. The 20-year music veteran best known for her 2006 breakthrough smash  “Pressure Into Praise,” has just released her sophomore CD Blessed, Broken & Given (Tyscot Records). The album has debuted at #13 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart –her highest entry to date (Her prior self-titled CD peaked at #18 on the same chart in 2007). “Oh my God,” Moore said through tears when she heard news of the CD’s chart premiere. “I’m so happy. I’ve worked hard all of my life and been through so much but this makes it all feel worth the ups and downs. I’m grateful to my producer Jojo Hill and my Pastor Kevin A. Williams for their part in helping making this project happen.”

The first radio single “Blessed, Broken & Given” is currently among the Top 100 most played songs on gospel radio as Tyscot readies a second single, “Fire Baptized Medley,” for summer airplay. “This is my testimony of what God did for me,” Moore says of the CD’s title song, an inspiring ballad. “He’s blessed me with a voice but He had to break some things in me in order for me to be given to the nation.“

Moore splits her time between her native Connecticut and North Carolina where she moved to care for her ailing grandmother. It’s another chapter in a life filled with trials and tribulations. In her youth, Moore battled childhood abuse; depression over her father’s death, and a 16-year marriage to someone she says “never loved me.” However, Moore’s has been a comfort through the hard times. Even as she was preparing to record the new CD, she was dealing with a rough patch. “I was going through a divorce,” she says. “Emotionally I was a wreck.” She wrote songs for the project that would encourage others. “I’m doing it to help other people come out of what they are coming out of,” she explains. “You don’t have to be unhappy and sit in abuse… This is the happiest time of my adult life.” Visit  http://www.lucindamoore.com or  http://www.tyscot.com for more information

Gospel Vet Is Favorite on Top 10 CD

Filed under: New Christian Music — Kitina @ 8:43 pm

STELLAR/DOVE AWARD NOMINATED GOSPEL VETERAN BRYAN WILSON’S “IF YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT JESUS” IS FAN FAVORITE ON TOP 10 SHOUTIN’ DOWN THE AISLES  CD

14-Track Album Showcases Down Home, Old-School Gospel Hits

FAIRFAX, VA; Time Life’s latest gospel release proves that traditional black gospel music is making a big comeback.  The new single-disc retail version of the hugely successful double-disc version (only available via TV and online), Shoutin’ Down the Aisles, has debuted at #8 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. The combined retail and TV sales have taken sales over the 100,000 mark and it’s still selling at a time when 30,000 units sold is considered a hit for traditional gospel music.

One of the fan favorites on the 14-song collection has turned out to be former child gospel star Bryan Wilson’s old school track, “If You’re Talking About Jesus.” The song is a stylistic blend of Pentecostal, New Orleans and Low Country South Carolina musical rhythms that Wilson started calling Bapolstogic music a decade ago. It’s a taste of what’s to come on his forthcoming CD “The Bapolstogia Begins…” Keep up with Bryan at his website http://www.bryanwilson.com

Shoutin’ Down the Aisles opens with Vickie Winans’ 1997 smash “As Long As I Got King Jesus.” Then, it continues to rock with up-tempo favorites as Fred Hammond’s “Jesus Be a Fence Around Me”, the Chicago Mass Choir’s “Holy Ghost Power” with Lemmie Battles, Jimmy Hick’s “Born Blessed”, Shirley Caesar & Tonex’s “I Know the Truth”, and Keith Wonderboy Johnson’s “Let and Let God.”

There are equally moving mid-tempo tracks such as Marvin Sapp’s bluesy “You Brought Me,” Candi Staton & Dottie People’s “Shut Up and Start Praying,” The Rance Allen Group’s “Miracle Worker,” Alvin Darling’s “All Night,” and Kirk Franklin’s “He Can Handle It.” The album is rounded out by two bonus cuts not featured on the previous Shoutin’ set. The Blind Boys of Alabama’s rootsy “Down in the Hole” and Deniece Williams’ praise jam “Glory to Glory to Glory” complete this vintage traditional gospel music set. Rising Gospel Star’s Duet with Marvin Winans Jr. Takes Her National

Filed under: New Christian Music — Kitina @ 6:11 pm

RISING GOSPEL STAR TONI RACKARD MAKES NATIONAL DEBUT

WITH  “YOU PULLED ME THROUGH” URBAN CONTEMPORARY DUET FEATURES MARVIN WINANS JR.

“Passionate Praise” is one way to describe the inspiring, contemporary gospel grooves of Tampa, Florida’s rising gospel star, Toni Rackard. For the last dozen years, she’s quietly built a following on the Florida music scene and even toured Europe with the renowned Harlem Gospel Choir. As her first national radio single “You Pulled Me Through” (a sizzling duet with Marvin Winans Jr.) is gaining momentum at gospel radio stations around the country, buzz is now building for the release of Rackard’s forthcoming debut CD Unconditional Love  (Beyond The Veil Records).

The collaboration with gospel royalty Marvin Winans Jr. came by chance. “We were at the Good Luck Café in Tampa and Marvin was there. Marcus Turner [Behind the Veil’s Promotions Director] thought it would be nice to have Marvin on the CD. So we talked to him and he agreed to do a song with me.”

Rackard’s producer Lewis T. Bryant Jr. (who has collaborated with R&B veteran Freddie Jackson) then went to work on what became “You Pulled Me Through.” The mid-tempo tune opens to the familiar echo of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” before transforming into an inspiring song about God’s ability to pull mankind through life’s trials and tribulations. “You don’t have to be a in a box because you’re saved,” Rackard says of the fresh urban sound of the song. “We are to have fun and rejoice but also spread the importance of intimacy with God.” Visit http://www.tonirackard.com for more information. Rackard is the praise and worship leader at Jesus People Family Worship Center in Tampa, FL.

From Drug Dealer to Bible Belter: Christawn’s Cry of “Save Me”

Filed under: New Christian Music — Kitina @ 6:04 pm

Christawn is a THUG on a mission. A THUG. for him, is The Higher Understanding of God. This Hip Hopper has real talk street cred. In his past life, he ran the streets, sold crack, packed pistols and chased skirts. He’s rapping about all of it on his forthcoming debut CD Life Story (Abundant Harvest Entertainment/Universal Music Christian Group) that hits stores everywhere on May 18, 2010.

Christawn’s first radio single “Save Me” (featuring firey tenor Micah Stampley on the hook) is heating up around the country. The in-your-face rock guitars set the stage for Christawn to rap about the day he cried out for God to save him in 2003.  “I had a bundle of crack I had stashed in this brick wall,” he recalls. He and a buddy were leaving the area when the cops caught them. “They threw us up against the car, took our money and put us in the back of the squad car and I’m thinking this is it,” he says. One of the cops went searching for the crack. “You could actually see where the bag was hanging out of the wall,” he explains. “He was putting his hand in holes and feeling around the wall. I just called on the Lord and said, `God if you save me from going to jail, I will leave this life for good.’ The cop came back to the car and I’m thinking the worse. He says, `Get out of the car; this is your lucky day. Get out of here.’”

After the cops left, Christawn returned to the wall and pulled the stash. “I gave it to Buck. He owned Morse Street at the time. I said, `Man, this is it. I’m leaving.’ He tried to talk me out of leaving but I refused to listen. He had some harsh words for me and I left. Two weeks later, Buck gets killed and two years later, the whole block was raided. They were all Bloods and now they are all facing 25 to life. So I know the Lord saved me for a reason.” Since then, Christawn has turned his life around and has been a member of Bethany Baptist Church in South Jersey. The church’s pastor, Bishop David Evans, mentored him and has now made Christawn’s rap dreams a reality.

“Save Me” was recently featured on the “Play it or Fade it” segment on Radio One’s nationally-syndicated program “The Spirit of Hip Hop with Coco Brother.” The audience called in and overwhelmingly voted for the song to be played. “It talks about what I was doing at different points of my life in the streets,” he explains. “That’s the closest song to my heart because it brings me back to where God brought me from… I want people to know this is where I’ve been. A lot of my life story started right there in the streets. I can’t sugar coat it because this is what’s going on in the lives of many people today…This isn’t just about smoking crack…. I was literally around killing all day long and going home and crying at night praying to God to save me.”
